2008

An Inquiry Concerning Displacement And Its Political Unconcious - during the Independent Trajectory at DasArts I engaged in questions of displacement at both an ontological level, and at a political level. Numerous small performances and short video works were made to experiment with the research work in both areas of the subject. The culmination was the performance of Betty Nixon. Amsterdam.

Betty Nixon - with actor Hilt de Vos. minimalist solo performance with video elements. Video was used, in strict synchronization to the live performance-- in scenes of spectacle movements of the character -- she in mass, public space. In private space we saw her in constant displacements (subtle shifts which sustain a system of normalcy, and perpetually defer access to subjective acting upon real desire). The Nixon era was situated with costume, style and a soundscape of President Nixon, Kissinger and Pat Nixon voices, suggesting a constant inner/outer world to the character we witness.

performer in Deja Vu by Zhana Ivanova.

2007

Verify - performance. solo. walking and fragmentary gestures abstractly refering/channeling experiences during time in Australia in Cape York. soundscape composed of elements from education films of mid-1950's Australia. performed in Amsterdam, Netherlands

Blindfold One - structured performance for creator and stranger. see here

Blindfold Untold - Three performers. Love, its blindspots, and its cycles. Broken by an oracle figure of strange memories of lost historical figures...

Redman - video work see here

The Art Tomato Show
- collaboration with Luc Van Esch, Voin De Voin & Cille Lansade. Television show in its last days, falls apart from its own 'weight' of end-points, as the producer is heard arguing with an unheard voice regarding the nature of art and artists in today's highly communicative culture: "no, no, no.. not every artist has to have a website!... ok, but Beuy's is dead!...". Tomatoes were available for the audience to throw. The use of tomatoes was a direct and clearly playful reference to the Tomato Revolution in Holland. This was an event in the late 60's which literally changed the spaces and history of theater in the Netherlands. Performed at DasArts Open Lab Block 26. Amsterdam, Netherlands

The Last Message - solo performance. hardcore music and r n' b on headphones are danced to, on a stage of broken elements. text voice over radio show regarding cynicism, entertainment and how to understand the sacrifice of a political person for a just but widely (in modern western cities) unknown 'cause'. Amsterdam, Netherlands

Competition International And The Pink Crocodile
- Collaboration with Cille Lansade and Camilla Fehr Ulrich. Fashion Expo Performance Events, Arnhem, Netherlands

Low - series of photographs in largely objectivist mode. In and near Charleston, South Carolina. Online samples here

2006

Navigators Intervision/Blue Screen - A performance within a performance of a larger general multi-performative event. A large blue screen stage space was installed where videos (in simulation of a live television channel were ongoing), interspliced like a television channel late at night, with with live performances including my own (Nocturnal, Weatherman, Missing Actress) and by Voin De Voin, Sarah van Lamswerde, Esther Mugambi, Janneke Raaphorst, Andreas Bachmair, and more.

Direct Address
- ongoing series of solo improvisation semi-personal/lecture formats on subjects of cliches, the "other", and further observatons in Australia. performed in Melbourne, Australia.

Network Theory
- collaboration with Zhana Ivanova. Utilizing object oriented programming, as a template for actions performed on stage by a set of performers. Hence, a combination of arbitrary determinants (beyond intention) and a systemic overall cohesion were negotiated by the performers. 4 performers. Melbourne, Australia.
